About Julie Bill

With nearly two decades of experience working in libraries, Julie Bill holds the title of director of library services at the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Los Angeles. Over the course of her career, Julie Bill has developed a diverse skill set that includes university libraries oversight, large scale project management, leadership, information architecture, asset management, collection development, modern library redesign and research, development, and planning of resource allocation. Additionally, she gives presentations as a well-known inspirational and motivational speaker, with a focus on helping teams reach their full potential as educators and trainers.

Prior to joining the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music, Julie Bill spent time as a consultant for academic, special, and public libraries throughout Los Angeles in 2012. From 2007 to 2011, she served as an interim principal librarian regional manager, senior librarian head of reference, and young-adult librarian at the East County Regional Library in Lee County, Florida. Among her primary duties within the various roles, she hired, trained, and mentored professional staff, formed partnerships with museums, colleges, and universities within the community, and conceptualized the redesign of the library system's intranet and website utilizing Microsoft SharePoint.

For her work, Bill has received multiple awards and honors. These include the Florida Library Association’s Public Library Website Award, National LYRASIS NextGen Librarian Award, and the I Love My Librarian Award, sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation, New York Public Library, and the American Library Association.
